Competency 2: Apply Social Work Ethical Principles to Guide Professional Practice

Professor Sara Evans introduced me to the National Association of  Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics, which she affectionately refer to as the "Bible for Workers." The core values outlined in the NASW has guided me in making ethical decisions in my personal and professional life. As a Professional Social Work I will take into consideration all the values, principles, and standards outlined in the code of ethics in every situation and circumstance. "Values are concerned with what is good and desirable, while ethics deals with what is right and correct" ( Dolgoff, Loewenberg,& Harrington,2009), therefore I will measure each decision by the NASW principles and standards.

I am Dedicated to serving others and creating innovative solutions to address societal problems. In my personal and professional life I will Promote Social Justice by advocating for fair treatment of all people, especially those who are oppressed. I Respect the dignity and worth of all persons and is committed to life long learning of cultural diversity. My intense Value of Human relationships is what motivates me to work towards improving the lives of individuals, families, and communities.  I have been taught the meaning of Leading with Integrity and is committed to conducting myself in a professional manner. I will continue to Demonstrate Competence by being a life long learner and using evidence based practices.

During my undergraduate years I have been exposed to various opportunity's to gain knowledge and experience. I have provided evidence that illustrates the application of my practice.
