Competency 1: Indentify as a Professional Social Workers and Conduct one self accordingly

Since the beginning of my academic career I have gained an understanding of how historical events influence social welfare polices. This knowledge  has prepared me to participate in the dialogue for social reform and advocacy. Also, I have learned the role of professional Social Workers in maintaining the well being of society. Interpersonal, critical thinking, problem solving, and listening skills are the qualities of an effective Social Worker.

Over the last four years I have had countless opportunities in the classroom and field to improve my skills. The National Association of Social Work (NASW) Code of Ethic's has guide me to incorporate the core values, principals, and standards into my practice. My Tennessee State University Professors and Mentors have prepared me to serve with integrity. During my undergraduate studies I have taken advantage of  numerous  opportunities  to teach, research, present, advocate ,consult, and participate in professional organizations.

As a Social Worker I will commit to life long professional enhancement. I have provided evidence of how my experiences have shaped my identity as a professional Social Worker.
